Disturb Us

Disturb us, Lord, when comfort lulls us into slumber,
When the freight of abundance dulls our hunger for You.
Shake us from the ease of possessions,
Lest we mistake fleeting gifts for eternal treasure.
Let not our hands grow too full to reach for the water of life,
Nor our hearts so content with grit
That we cease to long for kavod.

Disturb us, Lord, when we have made peace with the temporary,
When the love of this world has dimmed our sight of the next.
Awaken in us a holy restlessness
A blaze that no wealth can quench,
No security can soothe,
No earthly kingdom can satisfy.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To set our sails upon uncharted seas,
Where tempests rise and waves would break us,
That we might know Your voice upon the wind,
Your hand upon the pull,
Your mastery over the storm.
Let the strands of safety shrink behind us,
That in losing sight of land,
We may lift our eyes to the stars
To the promise of the heavens, unshaken, undimmed.

Push back the horizons of our hope, O God,
Stretch our vision beyond the narrow now.
Make us pilgrims of the infinite,
Builders not of fading empires,
But of a kingdom unshakable.
Drive us forward, not in fear,
But in strength, in courage, in reckless trust.
Let our hearts burn with a love that outlives time,
A hope that outlasts the earth,
A faith that walks upon the waters
Unfaltering, undaunted, undying.

Disturb us, Lord, until we rise.
