The Embers of Notre Dame

A Fibbonacci informed Chiasm.

Ash

Flares black

Smokes thick,

Churns upward-twisting,

A scorched cathedral’s spine unspooling blaze.

Cinders gnash the air, soot-clawed, wind-lashed,

Choking the dusk in charred-lung whispers,

A sky of splintered ribs heaving cindered vapor.

Firespawned shadows lurch, long-legged wraiths,

Dancing in razored orange spirals, gnawing ruin.

The wind keens hunger, devours walls, swallows beams whole,

Gutters, gasps, shudders-collapses into hollowed ash.

Fingers of soot clutch the sky, quivering,

Their grip loosens, their edges fray.

Smoke curls, falters

Winds gnaw,

Ash drifts,

Falls mute.

Cold.
